20 years ago, the company history of KURIOS Laserprodukt GmbH began with processing of advertising plastics. Although we continuously developed, products made of PMMA, PC, PETG/APET, etc. are still part of our everyday business.
 
In today’s advertising competition, signets and displays made of plastic help you to stand out and directly reach target groups. Here, advertising plastics and their various looks can be a huge help. Glossy, reflecting, or textured surfaces are just as catchy as brilliant colors. Quality standards play a decisive role throughout the course of manufacturing. Therefore, all CNC systems are programmed using the same CAD/CAM software. In doing so, we efficiently prevent any interface problems and are able to ensure optimal results, even when combining different operations.

Advertising Plastics

  • PMMA (Plexiglas®):
    temperature-resistant from -20°C (-4°F) to +80°C (+176°F), feasible in many colors and highly transparent, weather-resistant, easy to process, perfect laser processability
  • PC (Makrolon®)
    very high impact strength, approved to be used in food contact applications, optimal light transmission, good machinability, limited laser processability
  • PS (Empera®)
    temperature-resistant from -40°C (-40°F) to +80°C (+176°F), high mechanical strength and rigidity, good scratch resistance and hardness, easy to process, good deep-drawing material
  • PETG, APET (Vivak®, Axpet®)
    fire rating B1, high impact strength, highly transparent, good machinability, limited laser processability, very good thermoformability, physiologically harmless
  • PVC rigid foam (Simopor®)
    very light, very easily machinable, suitable for printing, can be painted, suitable for bonding, good chemical resistance
  • Aluminium composite (Dibond®, Hylite®)
    low weight but high stability, very good machinability, suitable for printing, can be painted, well malleable, many decors available

CNC milling of advertising plastics – important details summarized

Depending on the advertising plastic’s physical characteristics, it can be milled by adding cooling lubricant, cold air, or completely dry. When cooling lubricant is necessary, e.g. for thread cutting, we will apply what is called “minimum quantity lubrication”.
 
These CNC-controlled machines allow for precise cuts and contours, matte edges, and processing material thicknesses of up 200 mm. To program these systems, we are able to read and process virtually all data exchange formats.
