Milling according to 3D data – KURIOS Laserprodukt GmbH
5-axis simultaneous milling – unlimited flexibility thanks to Hermle
5-axis laser cutting and 5-axis laser welding have been part of KURIOS’ range of three-dimensional material processing for many years, which is why 5-axis laser milling is just a logical addition to it. If you consider the future establishment of generative production methods, the finishing process of these technology’s products will only be possible by using 5-axis simultaneous procedures.
Many years ago, we made the decision to rely on SolidWorks/HSMWorks in the machining sector’s field of CAD/CAM coupling. All portal milling machines have been programmed three-dimensionally by now although we initially used the 2.5D version. Today, all employees have been trained to handle 5-axis simultaneous milling machines.
5-Axis Milling Aluminium
Machined separation processes for aluminium alloys and various aluminium composite materials.
Each machinery includes a zero point clamping system with interchangeable elements, so that changeover time can be as short and reproducible as possible. Touch probes for workpiece measurement and laser measurement systems for tools complete the process chain and enable us to work as efficient as possible.
We are now able to manufacture even complex fixtures for laser welding purposes faster and better than ever before. That way our customers benefit in many regards from the technological growth at KURIOS.

Exemplary fields of application – HSC milling of material
Nowadays, many young design engineers think in three dimensions and showing consideration for the limitations of classical 3-axis processing is an increasingly rare option. As a result, more and more components that require 5-axis processing are to be found across all industries, e.g. in fields of mechanical engineering and plant engineering like production plants, packaging machines, and in maintenance.

5-axis simultaneous milling – the key facts
In the field of machining our focus is on processing plastics, natural materials, and light metals. We are mainly processing the mentioned material mix, as we are able to benefit from our extensive expertise in HSC milling. Our advantage is that, depending on a component’s requirements, we are able to choose from a selection of different machine types regarding the machining area and accuracy.
